Hallyu star Bae Yong-joon's photo essay "Discovering the Beauty of Korea" will be made into a television documentary.
KEYEAST announced in a press release Tuesday that the documentary will be created in cooperation with Korea Tourism Organization and the six main regions of Korea including Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon Province, North Gyeongsang Province, South Jeolla Province and South Chungcheong Province.
The original book contains photographs of various cultural artisans that Bae met during his travels in Korea as well as introductions of the Korean culture and locations which he compiled over a one-year period.
The book has been a bestseller in both Korea and Japan last year and since been steady sellers. It has also been published in several languages including Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese and Chinese.
The documentary, to be produced in eight parts, will show the itinerary of Bae's travels through a video featuring the photographs and writings from the photo essay.
It will air in Korea in mid-November and is scheduled to premiere in Japan later this year as well as in China and other Asian regions at a later date.
