Up & Down!

UP! Hyun Bin

The cause of 'Joo Won ache' Hyun Bin. His popularity from the SBS drama "Secret Garden" as department store owner Kim Joo-won continued throughout the drama until ater it.

His commercials raised millions and billions of earnings and the unsure movie "Late Autumn" managed to shine thanks to Hyun Bin's popularity. Then his volunteer to join the Marines even drew in male fans and he became a syndrome. Even now when he is just a regular soldier everything he does is a matter of issue to the public.

UP! Cha Seung-won

In the midst of loneliness after Hyun Bin left for the Marines, Korea cheered at the appearance of "The Greatest Love" Dok go-jin, Cha Seung-won.

In the drama he is a strong personality perfectionist top star Dok Go-jin. He then falls in love with a previous idol star Goo Ae-jeong and shows her all his love. Being cool about everything and being unable to stand injustice he expressed righteous indignation in the drama, getting him popularity from women.

Cha Seung-won showed charismatic action in the SBS drama "ATHENA" but the drama wasn't a huge success. However his next drama "The Greatest Love" succeeded greatly and he is now at the peak of his life for the second time.

UP! Kim Tae-hee

With the beauty of a goddess but always in the issue with her acting was Kim Tae-hee. She succeeded in winning favors from many in the MBC drama "My Princess" playing the real princess.

She also got rid of the mysterious woman image and transformed into the comic, lovely and friendly actress. Shining far away like a lonesome 'star' Kim Tae-hee had approached fans more 'humanly'.

DOWN! Jeong Woo-seong

Back in home screens in 15 years with SBS drama "ATHENA", Jeong Woo-seong faced decrease as the drama wasn't so successful.

Jeong Woo-seong met Lee Ji-ah through "ATHENA" and developed into a relationship. After their dating pictures were revealed in February, they admitted to their relationship and he became the cool guy. However, the Lee Ji-ah and Seo Taiji marriage – divorce case made him the most pitiful guy of all. In the end they broke up not long after their relationship announcement.

DOWN! Yoon Eun-hye

Seemingly strong in dramas with "Princess Hours" and "Coffee Prince", Yoon Eun-hye attempted at another drama this time, "Lie to Me" but couldn't shine with the one-digit rating.

Yoon Eun-hye played the role of Gong Ah-jeong with Kang Ji-hwan as Hyeon Ki-joon in "Lie to Me". However, the lie of marriage in the drama which was the main concept behind the drama didn't buy in to the viewers and she was even pointed out that her role and her fashion in the drama didn't go well together.

My Thought on 'The Greatest Love aka Best Love'

Gu Ae Jung ( Gong Hyo Jin )
She was the most popular member in the most popular girl group “Treasure Girls” 10 years ago but she is now always caught up in bad press situations due to unforeseen circumstances.The washed-up former idol star who is now hardly able to make a living with her TV appearances, has to deal with the “crazy” Top-star “Dok-Go Jin” with whom she shares a bad fate with. But thanks to him as well, she managed to secure a spot on the program ‘Couple Making’ and gets to meet Yoon Pil Joo, a golden bachelor. Thinking that this could be her last chance of getting away from the life she is now living as she gets closer to him, Ae Jung decides to try her best to go for it but why Dok-Go Jin standing in her way of happiness right now?

Dok-Go Jin ( Cha Seung Won )
Why is my heart beating so crazily again whenever Gu Ae Jung is near? Is my artificial heart malfunctioning this time? Top star! The absolute No. 1 that People love! The Perfect Man, sexy and wonderful man, all the popular vote no.1! The model who is most favored by advertisers, has covered various CFs under his belt. He had a really big heart surgery when he was young and is now living with an artificial heart in his body. But after having cheated death at one time, he developed an Obsessive-compulsive disorder habit of checking/monitoring his heart beating rate for fear of it stopping although nothing happened all these years. He is actually a mean, selfish person unlike his friendly image in the public. He is also currently in a pretend love-relation with Kang Se Ri although they have already broke up a long time ago for their appearance sake. He had lived the life he had wishes and done all that he wanted until Gu Ae Jung enters and messed it up.

Kang Se Ri ( Yoo In Na )
She was a member of Treasure Girls along with Ae Jung and Ae Hwan is her manager as well. She used to be overshadowed by Ae Jung when they were still performing as Treasure girls but now she gets much more attention and fame than Ae Jung after she switched to acting and MC. As the MC of ‘Couple Making’, Se Ri finds herself growing with jealousy towards Ae Jung again when she finds her ex-boyfriend, Dok-Go Jin and Yoon Pil Joo, the man that she is interested in falling for Ae Jung.

Yoon Pil Joo ( Yoon Kye Sang )
He is an Oriental Medicine Doctor who doesn't give a care about celebrities nor their lives and his only hobby is to find the herbs on the mountains around the country over the weekends and finding new medicines to study but he is added to the love square between the three stars when he falls unexpectedly for Ae Jung.

Here comes my Thought:

Finally I’m done with The Greatest Love aka best Love. Truthfully, at first I was so happy to watch the other side of Cha Seung Won, I was so happy that I keep checking on it time to time… I was so happy to once again watch Gong Hyo Jin in action… feel like I’m getting back the ‘Pasta’ moment but in different level…but sorry to say that this drama is not on my top favorite list. I'm enjoying myself watching it just not my favorite one.

What I like about this drama:

Since I’m a person who seeks something great from a story line, than the story line is my favorite number 1. I like it when the story revolves around people who we want to know, idol, ex-idol and actors. I’m not surprise to find out that some ex-idol do have hard time and I believe the writers didn't just write it out of imagination coz reality won’t be as perfect as what we imagined. I like it when they show us that celebrities do have their own way of thinking… the writer keep giving us what we want to know… and instead of answering it directly they give us several character to fit our imagination… there is someone like Goo Ae Jung, Kang Se Ri, Dok Go Jin, Lee Seung Gi (lol I have to add him up… can’t ignore the fact that… he was there) but the most important part is… everyone has their own story, and each one of them indirectly telling us that what you see is not what you think.

I like it when the writer tackled the most important part of celebrity life… LOVE. Most of celebrity I’ve known look perfectly perfect from head to toes, but most of them walking on a lonely path… even if they have someone they really love… they can’t proudly say that they’re in love. So, to those celebrities who overcome the public, they deserve to be looked upon. At least they have completely shows us that no matter what, they’re still human being. Sorry, I’m starting to ramble again… this is what happened when I'm over use my brain capacity.

Secondly, I like Goo Ae Jung character, not overly shadowed by Dok Go Jin. She looks much more human and comfortable to be around. Looks weak but strong enough to stay in the industry.

Third, I like everyone around this two greatest couple. Start with that little kid Ding Dong (He is like a cupid angel who works on a spell when things getting harder for people around him)Yoon Pil Joo, Jenny, Jae Suk (Im Ji Kyu deserve to be praise... I think I like his cuteness LoL) , Goo Ae Wan and of coz Kang Se Ri for her effort on chasing what she want, and being truth to herself.

I do like Dok Go Jin (except for his overly cute but not cute at all to me). I like almost everything about this character. Dok Go Jin do have that image that no one can shake it.

And lastly… to my surprise… I love how it end. I don’t know if I’m having a problem with the previous episode or maybe I’m not fully giving my interest to this drama but the last 2 episode succeeded on changing my mind… instead of plainly changing from WOW! To HMMM…. I’m taken back and starting to WOW-ING again…

I think I'll re-watch this drama again without being so picky (^^)

What I don’t like:

For this I can only state one thing, after following this drama for several episode I’m getting tired with Dok Go Jin… sorry girls… I have to let this out, Dok Go Jin really killed my imagination… (Yes XaXa… I’ve told you this before). Not blaming Dok Go Jin for his immature character and can’t blame the writer either coz I believe… this Dok Go Jin do exist in real life. It's just that, I can’t stand when Dok Go Jin trying too hard to look cute. I hate to think that instead of being cute he look totally awkward… well some of his action is acceptable but some just totally not okay with me. Sorry, you girls out there might love him no matter what I wrote here so just ignore this. And if it happened that I’m ruining your imagination… than I’m sorry again. He might be a character you dream for in this real life… but that just not me. If only they skipped out that part… Dok Go Jin character definitely 100% perfect… suit to my imagination LoL.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fuh~ I’m writing this at 4 am while listening to Fiction by Beast…. Time to enter my dreamland… why is that pills not working on me? hmmm
Will I recommend this drama to you... Don't bother asking just go and watch and feel up your curiosity . Don't worry my simple thought will never ever going to affect your imagination... so grab your chips and start watching. (^^)
Shin Se Kyung and Jonghyun back to single
According to Shin's agency Namoo Actors, Shin Se Kyung and Jonghyun (SHINee) have broken up.
"The two recently grew far from each other due to their busy schedules so they decided to stay friends," the official explained, adding that the two rarely got to meet each other.
News of the breakup between the lead singer of one of Asia's most popular K-pop groups and one of the most sought-after actresses in Korea of 2009 smash-hit sitcom "High Kick 2" fame has drawn mixed response.
While some are disappointed that the two young celebrities are no longer an item, the opposite reaction has been noticed in fervid fans of Jonghyun, some who went as far as to push the actress to shutting down her personal website.
Ko Soo with High Cut
Actor Ko Soo posed for the photo collection of "High Cut".
Through the release of "High Cut" on the 16th, he posed a variety of styles and expressions.
He looks like a Hong Kong actor when he is holding a cigarette in his mouth and his eyebrows scowling and looks like a comical actor when his face is clownish. He put on eight different suits this day.
Meanwhile, he returns to screens through the movie "The Front Line" coming on the 21st of July. He talked about the time he hurt his thigh during a shoot and the reason he had to jump into the ocean on a snowy January day.
Cha Seung-won has returned with his '소' moustache.
MBC drama "The Greatest Love"s main character Cha Seung-won has returned with his '소' ('so') moustache.
Through his Me Today he said, "I have put the drama on hold and I am currently shooting a car advertisement".
He then said, "I have a '소'...think of it as an honor!" and loaded a picture along.
Cha Seung-won is sitting in his car with the door open and posing. His '소' mustache is back.
He had shaved off the trademark '소' moustache in May when Goo Ae-jeong (Kong Hyo-jin) asked him to.
Netizen's say, "It's so awesome I might nose bleed", "You're '소' is back", "Welcome back '소' moustache", "Awesome indeed" and more.
Meanwhile, "The Greatest Love" will end on the 23rd.
Interview: Lee Min Ho me2day
IS Plus is the media outlet that does interviews outside of the norm, which I always enjoy, whether it’s “drinking interviews” or an “SNS interview” like the following one, which is basically a Twitter interview.
This exchange was conducted between the interviewer and City Hunter’s resident justice-seeking avenging hero Lee Min-ho over a few days earlier this month on me2day, a Korean service that’s pretty close to Twitter in functionality.
Hello, this is Lee Min-ho. This is my first time doing an interview through me2day, so it’s new to me, but that makes it fun. Actually, I was using a different type of SNS [social networking site], but recently I started on me2day. While I was doing this interview, the response from you fans has been good, so I found myself going on me2day whenever I found time while shootingCity Hunter. These days, I’m really working hard on shoots. I hope you’ll all loveCity Hunter, which will allow you to see a variety of appealing sides to Lee Min-ho.
On June 4, 2011
Lee Min-ho-sshi, thank you for chatting with us on me2day.
It’s nice to meet you. This is Lee Min-ho. Starting now, I’ll begin uploading the interview in bits when I have time. Please don’t be confused. ^.^
Are you taking any particular care with your appearance or style for City Hunter?
With my preparations for the role, I started with the appearance of agility and strength. I also worked on fitness with the action scene training. Then, as the story began to unfold, I turned to expressing my character Lee Yoon-sung’s inner emotions and his development, like his loneliness and pain and the dual sides of his personality that he uses to cover that up.
There are a lot of action scenes. How much training did you receive? Are there more difficult stunts to come in the future?
Starting with the basic rolls, I moved on to overall physical training and martial arts, and learned a lot of diverse skills. There are a number of unusual sequences hidden in City Hunter like the “spoon action scene.” Please watch for yourselves in the broadcasts. ^^ The first-run broadcasts!
You shot in Thailand for a while. Did you have any difficulties adjusting to weather or food?
I've visited Thailand several times before, and I’ve been treated really well so it’s comfortable. There were some really hot days. The temperatures got up to 37 degrees in the daytime, and we all struggled to adapt to it.
How did it feel to ride an elephant? It didn't look easy, sitting on one without a saddle.
The elephant was so bit, it took several steps to get high enough to sit on it. The broadcast didn't show this, but I rode the elephant through a river. It was awesome~ Maybe it felt a bond with me, but it used its trunk to spray something refreshing at me, which is when I first realized it was saliva. -_-
Of your projects so far, what character has the image you like best?
Lee Yoon-sung, who I’m busy filming now. Ah… It’s difficulty to distinguish between them. I’m attached to all of them.
On June 5
Is there anything you’d like to erase from people’s memories, of everything that you've encountered since your debut? Perhaps your red-carpet fall at the [2009] Baeksang Arts Awards?
I can’t think of any particular incident, but a lot of people talk about me falling at the Baesangs. Whew, I was really startled then. But the photos were fun. Ke. Now, it’s become such a good memory.
When you monitor your past works, do you see a lot of differences between now and your early projects?
I haven’t compared myself to how I was at the beginning of my debut, and I usually monitor my scenes on the set in between shoots, but there are times when my expressions come off differently than I think. It’s like recording your voice, and thinking it doesn't sound like yourself. When that happens, I check carefully to see if there’s a part that’s gone wrong. It allows you not to get stuck looking at it subjectively.
Do you tend to get deeply into character?
I think so. However, after a drama has finished and I've rested and moved on to other work, I’m able to shed that character naturally.
How do you spend your time when you’re not working? I wonder who are the celebrity friends you mix with.
There’s nothing in particular that I do, I watch movies and work out and play games. I also go out to eat with middle school friends or Jung Il-woo or Kim Bum, and also my family.
Most of the actresses you've worked with have been noonas (Gu Hye-sun, Sohn Ye-jin, Park Min-young). How well do you work with Park Min-young these days?
Is it because I’m still pretty young? I've had a lot of opportunity to work with actors older than me. Actually, I shot a CF with Park Min-young when I was 20. Fortunately there are a people younger than me on the set of City Hunter, so there’s a bright atmosphere.
Who’s the cast member from Boys Before Flowers who you've called or been called by most recently?
Kim Bum-sshi. Hehe.
What has Kim Bum said about City Hunter?
We both know the difficulties when doing a drama, so rather than talking a lot about it, we tell each other, “Let’s not get hurt, and do our best till the end.” It’s looking after each other. Those words provide a lot of support.
When are the times when you think to yourself that you’re good-looking?
Before filming, after makeup and preparations are done? Keke. Depending on the situation, I might think I look good, and at other times I think, “You’re so ugly.”
While keeping up a busy daily schedule, do you have your own ways for keeping in shape?
When it’s time to sleep, I sleep well, and when it’s time to eat, I eat well. Ah, and I’m really thankful when the fans send their wishes not just to me but to the staff as well. It’s such a support.
On June 6
If, like in your dramas, a woman showed her interest in you who was the daughter of a president, or from a chaebol family, or from a powerful background, what would you do?
First off, it makes me feel good to have someone of the opposite sex liking me. Keke. But, you have to meet people directly, you know? At first, I think I’d just like it. It would feel like the dramas.
Did you eat a proper meal at the set today? What do you usually eat while you’re on set?
Today, fans sent us snacks so I ate those… Usually I’ll go to a restaurant nearby the filming location. If I find a good restaurant nearby, I’ll zero in on it.
Aside from props, did you buy model guns to practice with?
I did. In the original City Hunter manhwa, the lead, Saeba Ryo, uses a Colt Python .357. I have a few in that class. I also tried shooting practice with targets, but cleaning up the scattered BB’s afterward is a chore. Ke. After that, I went to the shooting range for live ammunition.
Do you like toys?
I like them. I like flying helicopters and driving cars. I’m recalling destroying my manager hyung’s wireless-controlled helicopter. Ke.
For gunfights, the Hong Kong noirs of the ’80s were the best. Have you seen the action movie A Better Tomorrow?
Of course. The A Better Tomorrow series, they call it every man’s fantasy. Ke. I remember buying a toy gun to play with and humming the theme song.
After Boys Before Flowers, have you ever walked on a main street without any problem? Have you used public transportation?
At the time of Boys Before Flowers, it was tough. Afterward, I had gone abroad for overseas promotions, and as I was walking with the staff, a Korean person asked, “ Aren't you Lee Min-ho?” “Why would Lee Min-ho be here?” It was fun, and I remember also feeling strange about it too. These days, I can travel around alone fine. Ke.
When you’re not feeling well, what do you do to recover?
When I’m not feeling well, I don’t talk much, but if I sleep I tend to feel better. While I’m working, there’s nothing I can do about it. I try to think of the positive side, and forget about the bad stuff quickly.
Please tell us how you feel about participating in this me2day talk, and also what your plans are for the future.
Wow, I’m more tense than when talking in person. Seeing what I've written, I feel really awkward. Keke. I thought I’d be able to do it easily, but it turns out I ended up thinking even more about it. I haven’t written this much in real time before, and it feels interesting and new. Thanks to all the fans who've come along the way. For now, my goal is to do well with City Hunter. And later, I’d like to try taking on the challenge of a film.
The following is a set of me2day posts by Lee Min-ho that the article culled into a “Best Of” list:
1. “Today at the City Hunter production press conference, I received some awesome encouragement! ^^ City Hunter fighting!! Everyone, fighting!!” 2011.5.17
Lee Min-ho smiles with a drawing of the original City Hunter manga hero, Saeba Ryo, which he received from a fan. The common “V” pose looks cool when Lee Min-ho does it.
2. “Feels like flying in the sky… It’s dangerous so Do! Not! Try this~~~” 2011.6.1
Lee Min-ho shoots an action scene using a string of nation’s flags linked together. He’s hooked up to a wire, but it’s dizzying to see him midair. Don’t try this at home.
3. “Thanks to fan support, I’m enjoying filming for City Hunter ^^ Thank you for the hot response. Watch the broadcast tonight!” 2011.6.2
Wearing a white shirt and necktie, with bulletproof vest. With goggles too, he looks like an action star for sure.
Tracing Lee Min-ho’s SNS tracks, here are some from the past.
1. “In the elevator, on the way to rehearsal for my fanmeeting” 2010.6.7
A photo shot casually in front of an elevator. Honestly, just holding up a camera to him turns everything into a photo shoot.
2. “I want to go bike riding” 2010.7.1
Lee Min-ho wearing a top hat, on a bicycle, in a meadow while shooting a photo spread. With his tall hat, he looks like a magician.
3. “In Prague” 2010.9.1
A photo shot by a staff member while shooting a CF in Prague last year. It was taken as a souvenir, but it was talked about for looking like a real shot.
4. “Good weather, beautiful Han River” 2010.9.21
Lee Min-ho enjoys riding his bike along the Han River. In interviews abroad, when talk turns to sightseeing in Korea, he recommends the Han River. Lee Min-ho’s “Han Kang love” is strong!
5. “Not long till Christmas~~ Have a nice week. ^.^” 2010.12.19
Last December, a Christmas greeting to fans. How did you spend your Christmas, Lee Min-ho-sshi?
