Super Junior member Heechul has spoken up about past rumors surrounding his possible withdrawal from the popular idol group, admitting he had once almost quit the 13-man band.
During a guest appearance on SBS talk show "Steel Heart" which aired Tuesday, the singer revealed that he had often felt "overwhelmed" to carry out group activities because he had "so many solo activities."
"I was in a lot of conflict with the members because of this," the pop idol said on the show. "Even the fans would say that I wasn't good for the team so I resigned from the fan cafe."
He went onto say he had such a "tough time" working and dealing with rumors about his quitting the band that one day he shocked everyone at agency SM Entertainment by announcing that he would no longer be pursuing a singing career.
The singer eventually stayed with the band when another member told him that they "left his space empty in their choreography" and that he could "come back any time."
Heechul's confession on the show reduced bandmate and group leader Lee Teuk to tears, who ran out of the studio during the taping to prevent from crying on national television.
As one of the more versatile members in the 13-member boy band, Heechul has branched out to acting in dramas and appearing on numerous variety shows over the past several years. He recently joined the cast of celebrity variety show "Family Outing Season 2."
