Jung Il Woo's Changes his Ideal Type Every Year

The cast of MBC’s upcoming historical drama, “The Moon that Embraces the Sun” gathered yesterday, January 2, for a press conference. “The Moon Embracing the Sun” is a fantasy historical drama (sageuk) set in the Joseon Dynasty and stars “Dream High’s” Kim Soo Hyun, “Bad Guy’s” Han Ga In, “Baby-Faced Beauty’s” Kim Min Seo, and “Flower Boy Ramyun Shop’s” Jung Il Woo.

In the series, Jung Il Woo plays Prince Yang Myung who is second in line for the throne and the half-brother of Lee Won (Kim Soo Hyun). Yang Myung and Lee Won fall for the same girl, a shaman named Wol (Han Ga In) who eventually falls for Lee Won.

Jung Il Woo described, “While he looks bright and cheerful on the outside, Yang Myung is actually full of pain and agony. Despite his bright smiles, he’s a very sad character. He’s constantly conflicted between reason and sensibility.”

While his character shows devotion to one love, Jung Il Woo surprised reporters by comparing his dating style to a nickel-silver pot. He stated, “I love like a nickel-silver pot. I tend to get passionate really fast, and I cool down [forget his ex] once we end our relationship.” The humorous comment caused everyone at the conference burst into laughter. Jung Il Woo continued, “My theory of love, relationships, and ideal type changes every year. Right now, the beautiful and hard-working Han Ga In sunbaenim is my ideal girl.” Slightly embarrassed, Jung Il Woo added, “I lost control over this situation.”

“The Moon that Embraces the Sun” is written by Jung Eun Gwol, who also wrote last year’s “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” starring JYJ’s Yoochun, Park Min Young, Song Joong Ki, and Yoo Ah In. It will air its pilot episode tomorrow, January 4, 2012 on MBC at 9:55PM KST.

Year 2011 was full of events that shook up KBS 2TV’s ’1 Night 2 Days’.

MC Mong left the ’1 Night 2 Days’ at the end of 2010 and Uhm Tae Woong joined the program in March. The show seemed to find steady footing then but Kang Ho Dong announced his retirement resulting in a crisis for ’1 Night 2 Days’.

However, the members Lee Seung Gi, Lee Soo Geun, Eun Ji Won, Kim Jong Min, and Uhm Tae Woong left behind by their hyungnim really pull through with ratings upwards of 20% keeping its post as ‘National Variety’. At the ’2011 KBS Entertainment Daesang’, ’1 Night 2 Days’ became the recipient of Daesang in recognition.

Na Young Suk PD was one of the integral forces in helping the members pull through and as such, he was recognized with a special promotion as well.

Na Young Suk PD thanked the viewers saying, “It’s all thanks to the viewers who loved (’1 Night 2 Days’).”

Na PD added, “Looking back, there were so many events in 2011. ’1 Night 2 Days’ members, staff, myself and those around me all think we did well and pulled through but there was not a moment when it was not in crisis. It was a crisis all the time. When a crisis came one after another I thought more than once or twice, ‘Ah, does it crumble like this?’, ‘Is this how ’1 Night 2 Days’ ends?’ Each time, the members and staff got together to pull through and got over it.”

When Na Young Suk PD was asked about his hopes for the new year he said, “I just hope everything goes well. I want to bring about good results till the end with members and staff working hard.”

On the possible season 2 of ’1 Night 2 Days’, Na Young Suk PD said, “Whether it’s February or not, there will be a moment end and there are many talks including talks of season 2 but ’1 Night 2 Days’ will do its best till the end.”

Na Young Suk PD continued, “Now there are 2 in January and 1 in February, in reality there are 3 pre-recordings left. If as planned, the last Sunday of February (2/23/12) will be the last episode to air. That ’1 Night 2 Days’ was loved is thanks to the viewers. I can’t be sure whether ’1 Night 2 Days’ will go to season 2 or not but I ask for a lot of love till the end” requesting the viewers to continue to cheer them on.

With questions on the possible season 2 unanswered, the last filming of ’1 Night 2 Days’ is scheduled for the beginning of February.
