Korean singer Park Jae-beom, who is set to start filming b-boy pic "Hype Nation," will arrive in Korea on Friday afternoon.
"Jae-beom will arrive at Incheon International Airport at around 5:50 p.m. on June 18," a source related to the film told Asia Economic Daily over the phone on Thursday.
Park's arrival has been much awaited by fans of his former boy band 2PM -- his visit to Korea had been talked of after news of his casting for the film broke out in mid April.
Park, 23, is a Korean-American singer who debuted as the leader of boy band 2PM which quickly became one of the most popular K-pop acts in the country.
However, his music career in Korea came to an abrupt end last September when it was revealed that he had written several controversial remarks -- including "I hate Korea" -- on his MySpace pages during his teenage years as a trainee at agency JYP Entertainment (JYPE).
The matter caused an uproar around the country, leading to Park quitting the band and leaving Korea four days after his old comments surfaced on the Internet.
He was expected to rejoin the group earlier this year, but was dropped by JYPE and his bandmates for good last February due to "a huge wrongdoing" that Park had committed in his personal life.
Park had been staying in the U.S. since, dancing with his b-boy crew Art of Movement and recently signing with U.S. online media company Digital Media Wire (DMW) to manage his career in the entertainment business.
"Nation," 70 percent of which will be shot in Korea, is about a dance contest between an American dance crew and South Korean dancers.
Park has been cast as the male lead alongside singer T-ae of girl group RaNia.
