Eric Reveals His Thoughts on the Filming Spy Myung Wol

Finally, our 'Myung Wol The Spy' leading man Eric  expressed his thought via his twitter today. Now I know why people refer him as the great leader of Shinhwa. He is wise with his words. Some might agree and some might disagree with him. But for me it was clear now.

A dramatic reconciliation…? We all came together and pushed ourselves to work hard after Miss Myeongwol left the country, for the three reasons that the drama had to go on, it was like a promise with our viewers, and there was the reality of our monetary contracts. But now, I think no one will feel very comfortable knowing that we will have to go back to shooting the drama like nothing happened. I’ve never talked with any newspaper about my views, but I saw a lot of articles writing about them.

Actually, in large incidents like this, I believe that, rather than reveal my views on the matter, it is better to let the public judge the facts according to their own values, and also that there is no one purely good or purely evil. However, to talk of my thoughts on the most misunderstood facts in this incident: Was the script rushed? No. As we added a new writer we had to edit one or two scenes due to the story’s continuity with the Singapore scenes, so we got new edited versions of the script for those scenes. But we always had the script handed to us in advance every week, and we could even read it faster than that if we wanted to at our team’s online cafe. Was there any discord with the director because of his abusive language? We always ask our director to talk to us comfortably like we are his juniors, but he always uses the polite form when addressing us. Did Myeongwol go through difficult times because the shootings lasted all night? That is true. She had a hard time near the beginning, and once she sent a photomail text message saying she was going to be late because she was getting an injection for fatigue. The public statement written by the staff? That is true. I believe all members of the staff and the actors who were on the scene yesterday and the day before checked the facts and signed the document. I think they did not reveal the actual statement with the real names on it in the article because it was to be read by the public.

It would have been better if we could have taken care of the problem and wrapped it up between us, but it’s come out into the open, and now I believe it is up to the public to judge. There is no need to point fingers, but any misunderstandings must be cleared, and that part was a misunderstanding on the part of the staff and writer. I hope my words serve as sufficient evidence, as I was on the scene every day. I also feel sorry about the conditions we had to shoot the drama in; all the other staff members and all the other actors will probably feel sorry for that also. In my opinion, we must first decide for whom we wish to improve the conditions for. Is it for “me,” who has already received the due wages for the work being done, or is it for the “staff,” who work harder for a longer time than us actors do for less pay? Or perhaps, is it for the future of our “juniors?” Many of you say that dramas should be filmed in advance, before it starts airing, but that is not easy because of the costs of production and drama time slots. There are many dramas which are filmed in advance and yet experience losses because they cannot get a time slot. I also want my future juniors to film their dramas in better conditions, but, in my opinion, more than my future “juniors” who I haven’t met yet, the staff members who

I work closely with every day are more important. I know that this is not an easy problem to fix unless I become a high-level executive in broadcasting, found a production company and produce dramas with the knowledge that I will be incurring losses, or else someone good enough to do it himself appears. So as a powerless actor I don’t have many options I can take; the only thing I can do is show some appreciation for those working with me for less compensation by comforting them at the scene, giving them presents such as team uniforms, or treating them to good food, etc. It’s hard to say I’ve filmed a lot of dramas in my career, but I can say for sure that the situation I am in now is not the worst of them all. Even more, after listening to the statements of Mr. Lee Sunjae and Mr. Lee Dukhwa, who are greater actors than I am and went through even more difficult times, I feel I am too weak an existence to dare shout out for a revolution. I hope those who are higher up the ladder lend their ears to the shouts of those at the actual scenes. Forgiving someone for their wrongs is a very faithful thing to do, but if you do not set the wrong right with courage, or if you ignore the voices coming from those who still bleed from that wrong, that is not “forgiveness,” but mere “acceptance.” “

“I hope that you continue to give Ye Seul your support. From my point view, Ye Seul is not the only female actress on the team, and I’m not afraid of the staff without power on set. I just wanted to get rid of the false charges against the actors and staff at a lower level than the female lead. Ye Seul made a mistake, but nobody can be a perfect human being, so I hope that her fans will continue to be of strength for her until the end.

I, too, am planning to say what I need to say as her oppa during our team dinner tonight when it’s just the two of us, but I will be accepting her again like old times. These are not staff members that will be negatively eyeing her or anything now that she’s back. Everyone is very innocent.

The upper management of the production company is a completely different story from us. I hope that everyone will just consider it the mistake of one young woman and the reconciliation of those that were upset by it. Please don’t over-exaggerate or misunderstand what happened. A lot of obstacles were in the way of ‘Spy Myung Wol’ and the viewer ratings are very low, but everyone, including Ye Seul, are all going to work hard to make the most out of it.

Even though there are few, we are working hard for those that watch the drama with affections. We hope that there will no longer be any rumors being made so that we can all find strength again.

PS – This controversy is over with the reconciliation at this point. I hope that it won’t be talked about anymore, and I’m sorry, but I’m RT-ing this again. Any further misunderstandings and assumptions will only come back to hurt Ye Seul, who already has a heavy heart, and the remaining co-stars and staff, who must accept and move on.

In short, just consider it simply like this: one woman’s mistake -> the disappointment of her co-stars -> her apology -> the scolding of the oppas -> and finally reconciliation.

Please end all assumptions! Let us just film the drama!!”

Han Ye Seul Returns to Korea: “I Would Like to Believe I Did the Right Thing”

Han Ye Seul, who left Korea on Monday in an apparent move to boycott further filming of her drama “Myung Wol the Spy,” has returned to the country in less than 48 hours. Wearing the same outfit and cap she wore in LA on Tuesday, the embattled actress arrived at Incheon Airport around 5:10 PM KST and addressed the media that greeted her with a barrage of questions.

“I wish I could start all over again,”
Han Ye Seul said with tears in her voice. “I just wanted the people in Korea to understand the poor working conditions…I didn’t want to see another victim like me, but I do think it was my fault to cause so much trouble to the entire cast and staff members,” she said.

But she was clear with her stance on this issue, as she said, “I realized nothing would improve unless I took the action I did, so I would like to believe I did the right thing. I made the decision amid extreme stress and fear, and I’m sure there are people who would understand my position. I expect to take a lot of heat and criticism for my decision, but I do hope the people in this industry would take this chance to look back at themselves.”

After briefly addressing the press, Han Ye Seul declined to answer any further questions and left the airport with her staff members.

Han Ye Seul has refused to participate in the filming of KBS drama “Myung Wol the Spy” since August 14th. Her boycott resulted in KBS airing a special episode with condensed highlights of the past 10 episodes on August 15th. It was later reported that she left for Los Angeles where her parents reside, as she briefly spoke to Korean media upon arrival on Tuesday that she had “given up on everything.” On Tuesday afternoon, KBS announced that they would replace the lead actress of “Myung Wol the Spy” but shortly after, Han Ye Seul and her agency released a statement apologizing for her act and expressing her intention to return to Korea as soon as possible.

Anyway, she's back and Myung Wol will be back in action and I can't wait for the next episode.

Han Ye Seul’s stylist exposes KBS’s harsh working conditions

A online netizen claiming to be actress Han Ye Seul’s hairstylist expressed her own thoughts on the entire ‘Spy Myung Wol‘ drama.

On the morning of August 17th, the individual tweeted,

“As her hair stylist, I have spent more time with and around Han Ye Seul, and therefore I know exactly what went on during each shoot.

All these people who are pointing fingers at her, are they choosing to believe these big names in the industry, rather than someone like me who is close to her and knows the real situation? What kind of “honest” people are these network reps anyway that they would force their cast members to film for long hours, often forcing them to break through the night? This has gone on for two long months already. They write completely biased articles in their own favor, taking complete advantage of people like Han Ye Seul. They made her sacrifice sleep for two weeks straight and when she finally got a chance to crawl home, she most likely had a few hours at most to shut her eyes and rest her exhausted body. She probably passed out and when she opened her eyes, she realized she was late and rushed to the set.

So she was late.

If the director really knew what he was doing, wouldn’t he have shot a scene where they didn’t need her, in order to save time? But no, he doesn’t. He wasted precious shooting time and refused to work until she showed up. Thanks to him, the actress who slaved herself on set for two weeks straight and didn’t get a wink of sleep for 4 days is now the irresponsible, immature she-devil who kept her staff waiting. They have no regard for her as a human being.”

“The girl stayed strong despite all of this. Wasn’t anyone worried about her? Wasn’t anyone worried that she would faint from lack of rest? They have zero respect for her as a human being. They used her like a slave, making up the hours as they went but as soon as she decided she had enough of them taking advantage of her, they turn the story around like they’re the victims in this whole ordeal. I understand the staff’s point of view, and I am sure they have their own reasons for issuing their public statement but this is really too frustrating. How could they release a statement like that after making her go through so much hell? Do they plan to continue to work their actors like that in the future?”

“I guess if you’re a celebrity, you are forced to sacrifice sleep for two months straight. You can’t afford to be late, you can’t be sick, and if you need to pass out from exhaustion, you need to do it in front of a large group of people so that you can prove how tired you really are. You have to be ready to be back-stabbed by the public and the people around you, and you have to do exactly what people tell you to do. I guess this is the life of a celebrity.

The things I learned from ‘Spy Myung-Wol’: You can’t be too nice, too honest, or too patient. Rather, you have to treat these people exactly the way they treat you. Otherwise, you will end up like Han Ye Seul. I wonder if they think she left the show simply because she was ‘too tired’.”

Han Ye Seul who made major headlines for refusing to show up on set for KBS2TV’s ‘Spy Myung-Wol’ has flown overseas and is scheduled to return to Korea shortly.

* I like her. She remind me of my PA.Talk less but act accordingly. Maybe because we're close, she felt sad when I'm sad. She will fight for me and support me from behind. I guess I understand why the stylist have to expressed her thought. It's killing you inside when you know the truth and yet not telling it.

We may choose to believe her or not. she might be a fan, she might be just one random girl who think "I'll get some attention from this". She might be anyone... but at least start listening, think and understand what she tried to tell.

The PD of ‘1 Night 2 Days‘, Na Young Suk, has made an official statement: he is staying with KBS.

During a phone interview with Newsen, PD Na declared, “I want to make this clear. I have no plans to transfer to a different broadcasting company; I will stay with KBS to continue ‘1N2D’.”

Rumors regarding PD Na’s transfer in addition to the news of MC Kang Ho Dong’s eventual withdrawal from ‘1N2D’ caused quite the commotion. Reportedly, PD Na was offered the equivalent of $3 million U.S. dollars to transfer to a different company.

“I worked until three in the morning last night preparing for our new episode and I heard the bizarre news earlier this morning. I am not leaving. I will continue ‘1N2D’ because I too am employed by KBS and will do the best I can in the position given to me,” he stated.

“I don’t even know how these rumors even begin circulating,” he continued. “It is true that I have been receiving phone calls about different offers, but it wouldn’t make sense for me to leave ‘1N2D’.”

When asked why he waited so long to officially respond to these rumors, he remarked, “No clear decisions have been made regarding Kang Ho Dong’s last ‘1N2D’ shoot or his next career move. I was cautious in making any comments regarding his situation or mine. I didn’t want to make things any more confusing or difficult for the fans.”

In closing, he clearly stated: “I am determined to stay with ‘1N2D’ and will not waver in my decision.” He then laughed as he joked, “So this is why all these celebrities have Twitter!”

* LOL Na PD it's about time for you to have a twitter account too.
Glad that he will stay. Na PD Daebak!

Jay Park Goes Blond in High Cut

Jay Park shows off his tattoos and newly blond hair in the latest issue of High Cut magazine. Unlike a lot of other K-Pop idols who go blond every other day, Park had never had any experience with bleach until yesterday. Apparently it had been part of the image concept for his new music video, but since his album release got delayed (due to his busy schedule with "Immortal Song 2"), he decided to get his hair done the other day.

"I was surprised to see myself in the mirror this morning, because it didn't look like me. It's my first time going blond... it feels new," Park said.

Wearing dENIZEN for Levi's (for which Park is a spokes model), he also showed off his many tattoos, including a new one on his left arm, which has his face in the middle, a Korean flag on the right side, and the Space Needle (representing Seattle) on the left. In other photos, we see the older tattoos, including stars on his neck, an arrow behind his ear, and various phrases on his back, chest, hand, and arm.

Park revealed that his favorite idol group is 2NE1. He gave some advice to rookies in the business who may be experiencing creativity restraints. "If you really love the stage, after awhile, you'll start to have your own ideas. Then you can do the music and the dance you really like."

The issue of High Cut will be on stands on August 18.

Na PD Confirmed to Leave 1 Night 2 Days

*Heartbreak* Everyone’s favorite evil genius of variety, producer-director Na Young Seok has been confirmed to leave hit program "1 Night 2 Days." We’ve been waiting on MC Kang Ho Dong to make his decision after announcing his possible exit from the show, but it looks like Na PD will be leaving first.

Na has signed with cable broadcaster CJ E&M (a media conglomerate that owns Mnet, TvN), joining "1 Night 2 Days" PDs of old, Lee Myung Han and Lee Dong Hee, who left before him. CJ E&M has apparently been wooing Na PD for over a year, and while his colleagues signed to the tune of 10-20 million won, Na PD was reportedly offered considerably more.

He’s certainly at the peak of his career, having paid his dues and come up the ranks as a variety PD, and taken "1N2D" to 20%, 30% and even 40% ratings at its high. Now with more creative control and clout, he’ll be able to do more from the ground up, creating new shows and changing the variety landscape and television as a whole. As cable networks continue to grow and put out new original content to contend with the Big 3 (KBS, SBS, MBC), people like Na PD and especially stars like Kang Ho Dong will likely be at the forefront of a change in the tide.

As of now, he plans to launch a new show for CJ E&M with PD Lee Myung Han, to premiere next April. He’ll be parting ways with "1N2D" as soon as his resignation is processed with KBS, which means he’ll be leaving shortly, possibly before the next episode shoots in two weeks

* I guess I'll miss him a lot. Remembering how Lee Seunggi use to mock him. 2D1N  will not be the same again. Argh! everything will not be the same again :(

Han Ye Seul to Return to Korea and Rejoin “Myung Wol the Spy” Crew

In a strange turn of events, Han Ye Seul has expressed her intention to return to the cast of KBS drama “Myung Wol the Spy” today, just hours after landing in Los Angeles in an apparent move to withdraw from the show.

In a press release just moments ago, Han Ye Seul’s agency said, “We would like to apologize for coming to you with such shameful news. Both Han Ye Seul and her agency sidusHQ feels responsible for the whole controversy. Han Ye Seul has been extremely tired both mentally and physically with her busy filming schedule, and that has clouded her judgments at the time. We are sincerely sorry for causing extreme damage to so many people. We will do our best to have her return to Korea and resume filming as soon as possible, and we’ll make sure to do our best until the end of the show. Once again, we would like to express our sincere apologies to everyone involved in this issue.”

Multiple local reports have also confirmed Han Ye Seul’s return to Korea. The production crew of “Myung Wol the Spy” was quoted as saying, “On August 16th, Han Ye Seul has expressed her intention to return to Korea and rejoin the show. But the production team is undecided on whether they would accept her back at this point.” Also, an official close to the producers said, “Han Ye Seul, who arrived in LA earlier today, told her representative that she would return to Korea as soon as she buys the flight ticket.”

KBS, on the other hand, has not made any decisions regarding her comeback to the filming crew. Ko Young Tak, the head of KBS’s Drama Department, said at a press conference today, “Only if she (Han Ye Seul) returns in time and doesn’t delay of the production of episode 12 airing next Monday, we will discuss the matter with the production team and decide then.”

If Han Ye Seul does return to the cast, it seems likely “Myung Wol the Spy” will be able to resume airing soon. KBS had raised the possibility of replacing Han Ye Seul to another actress and it was inevitable to tweak the storyline a little bit. They also said they would take proper legal action to file a lawsuit against the star actress.

Earlier today, Han Ye Seul was spotted at the LAX Airport in Los Angeles where she told local media, “I gave up everything. The working environment was just too hard for me.” She said the poor working environment and differences between her and the production crew had caused the entire dispute and hinted at the possibility of even ending her celebrity career in Korea. Due to her sudden departure, “Myung Wol the Spy” was not able to air on Monday and instead showed a condensed highlight show titled “Myung Wol the Spy Special.”

* This is much more better than not continue it at all. Replacing HYS with other cast is definitely not the right choice. Changing the scipt at the last minutes either is not what they supposed to do. Instead of trying to play hard or figuring how they want to punish her... aren't it better if they sit down and clear all the problems. Of coz this matters has cost them a lot but KBS should just start thinking about proceeding with the shoots. Decides anything else later, just finish up with the shoot. I'm still waiting for episode 11 argh~

My Thought: Han Ye Sul Leaving Myung Wol The Spy

Seems like things will not going smoothly for the entire crew and cast of 'Myung Wol The Spy'. With Han Ye Sul dropping her role half way and currently staying in LA I don't think 'Myung Wol The Spy' can go through everything without having an impact.

I'm not going to judge Han Ye Sul over what she did. All I've been reading this days is only written or spoken by one side. Han Ye Sul hasn't yet drop any sign to explain the reason for her sudden actions. And for now I'll just stay believe that she have been through harsh time more than we can imagine.

She is not being professional while handling these matters but I wonder if being professional will really resolve the problems. She might complaint about her working hours and so on. But this is not the first time I've heard actors or actresses complaint about it either. Before, Moon Geun Young also stated it clear while receiving her awards on KBS, that the producers and the entire entertainment industry need to consider about their working hour, it's not just about the actors its about the entire crew.

It's about time for Korean entertainment industry to look thoroughly over the matters. There is thousands of Korean people who eagerly want to be a stars but in this kind of situations there is no way the same problems won't arise again.

update:

So Han Ye Sul decides to rejoin the crew once again. And I'm happy to know that, for whatever reason that we don't know I just hope things doing okay with her and the drama.

I just don't understand people who bashing, hate and criticizing her. Not that I agree with her but it's not okay to simply blame her.

One ask me, "if she was in your team what would you do? forgive her?"

How should I answer that? I wonder why do I have to be part of the team... why don't put me in HYS shoes? will I bow my head and says okay to everything? will you? as I can see... those people who bashing her and telling her how to do her work will definitely leave the team too.

If telling the team that this is not okay, this is not right and still no action is taken will I stay in that team? seriously, if you have your own career and know what you want, you'll know the answer.

Kang Ho-dong to quit 1 Night 2 Days?

Nooooooooooo! What the hell is going on over there, KBS? Gagman and MC Kang Ho-dong has just announced that he plans to leave hit variety show 1 Night 2 Days, and has notified PDs that he’ll be wrapping up by the end of this month. He’s kidding, right? This is some sick, cruel joke?

The Happy Sunday PDs are reportedly scrambling to do everything they can to convince him to stay, which means the decision’s not really set in stone. This makes me wonder if it’s just a bit of a power play, especially now that Kang Ho-dong has gone solo with his own one-man agency and therefore stands to make a great deal more money if his contract gets renegotiated. Listen, I don’t care if you have to buy him one of those tiny islands or something. Just DO IT.

Kang Ho-dong has been the main MC on KBS’s Happy Sunday: 1 Night 2 Days since its start four years ago in August 2007. Since then it’s climbed to the top ratings spot on Sunday nights, which has long been the coveted power seat of variety shows. He reportedly wants to leave while the show is at the top, which sounds like entertainment doublespeak to me. Who goes out when they’re the top dog? Either he knows something we don’t know, or he’s more of a mastermind than Na PD is.

Everyone, including the head of the network, is scrambling to change his mind. Seriously, people — scramble harder. Who would scare Seung-gi and make him cry? What would Su-geun do without his weekly beating? Who would tell Jong-min and Tae-woong to do better? WHAT WOULD BABY BEAR DO WITHOUT PAPA BEAR?

Fix it, people. Or we will have words.

* What?! is this a joke? I hope it is. I don't even want to think how 2D&1N without Kang Ho Dong... not after I've try to accept the fact that Mc Mong and Kim C is not there. KBS need to do something... anything at all... (T T)
